FAQ

Can I donate books/videos to the library?

Thank you for thinking of us! Please call ahead before bringing donations in to the library.

Why can't I use someone else's card?

If someone were to use your card, you would still be responsible for any fines or charges. To prevent people, even spouses, from using each other's card and incurring fees and charges, which can cause multiple problems, we simply do not allow others to use your card. If your card has been lost or stolen, please report it immediately.

How do I get a card if I don't live in North Bay?

If you come into the library with appropriate identification, you may get a library card. The fee for out-of-town memberships is $45 for a single membership and $60 for a family membership.  To find out what is considered acceptable identification, please see the list on the Library Card page.

Why does my library card need to be renewed periodically?

Your library card needs to be renewed so we can have up to date information on our patrons. If you have moved or changed phone numbers, for example, we may not be able to reach you if you have put a book on hold and it comes in for you.

Where do I return my material?  What if the library is closed?

You return your material by taking it back to the department you borrowed it from. Each department has a spot for returned books. If the library is closed, please use the book drops located at the Worthington Street entrance (presently closed due to construction on the Worthington St. Entrance)

Does the library loan out LED projectors?

We do have an LED projector we loan out for a charge of $10 per day.

What is my PIN/password?

The computer system does not allow us to see this confidential piece of information. However, if you present your library card at a desk, the staff can reset your password for you.

How old do I need to be to take out R-rated movies or M-rated games?

As long as you have an adult card, you can take out R-rated movies and M-rated games. Adult cards are given out when a patron turns 13 or is in grade 7.

How do I book a meeting room?
