The North Bay Public Library offers a number of programs and events for those aged 13 - 17 including our Teen Advisory Group and Teen Summer Book Club.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG)

Our Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is a volunteer opportunity for teens who use the library. By joining this group, teens earn volunteer hours by helping to develop the library's collection (both physical and digital), help plan programs, and give input on library space.

Next meeting: Thursday April 30, 6-7PM in the Board Room (lower level of the library)

This will be an in person meeting. Meet and chat with others, pick out some books, and eat some snacks!

Movie Matinee at the Library - Dial "M" for Murder

Movie Matinee at the Library! 

Calling all cinema buffs! Join us on Saturday April 18 from 12:30-3PM in the Auditorium for an afternoon showing of the film Dial “M” for Murder!

Prior to the show we’ll have a brief discussion of some cool facts and context about the film!

This is a free event open to ages 16+. Snacks will be provided.

Writing Personal Stories: Tips & Techniques for Creative Non-Fiction with Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli

Curious about creative non-fiction writing? This workshop is for you! Join us on Saturday May 9 from 1-2:30PM in the library Board Room.

In this workshop, award-winning author Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli will share her tips and techniques when writing creative non-fiction. Using concrete examples from her collection Product of Italy, Made in Canada: An Immigrant’s Love Letter to Food, Family, and Resilience, Rosanna will describe ways of making your personal stories resonate with readers. Using literary devices such as character-building, dialogue, imagery, language use, humour, atmosphere and mood, etc., participants will learn how to make their personal stories memorable and impactful. Whether writing to preserve your family stories and heritage, or to process events in your life, this workshop will inspire you to have confidence and write your own story or stories. Handouts will be provided.

This program is for ages 16+.

Plant Swap!

🌿Plant Swap!🌿

The Library is hosting a Plant Swap—perfect for plant lovers of all experience levels! Join us on Saturday, May 23rd, from 1:00–3:00 pm in the Library Auditorium for an afternoon of sharing, swapping, and growing your indoor plant collection 🌱

Bring 3–5 houseplants or cuttings that are pest-free, healthy, and clearly labelled to trade with fellow plant enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking to find something new or pass along a plant that needs a new home, there’s something for everyone!

Need to repot a plant or two? A repotting clinic will be on-site to help you give your plants a fresh start 🧤🌼

What plants can I bring to the swap?

Houseplants or cuttings that are pest-free, in good condition, and clearly labelled. Plants may be in soil-filled pots or in water-filled containers. Please note that outdoor plants are not included in this event.

 

Do I have to bring a plant to participate?

No, bringing a plant is not required, but it is highly encouraged—more plants make for a better swap! 🌱

 

Do I have to take home as many plants as I brought?

No. You may take home as many or as few plants as you like, with a maximum of five (5) plants per participant.

DIY Notebook Workshop

Join us on Wednesday May 27 from 6-7:30 PM in the Auditorium to learn how to make your own notebook!

This program is for ages 13 and up. All supplies provided. This is a free event!

Space and supplies are limited. Everyone wishing to participate must register individually.
