A Canadian Literary Journey with the Private Poet

Join us as the Private Poet takes us on a carefully curated literary journey at the North Bay Public Library!

On Saturday October 4, from 2-3:30PM, takes us on the Trans Canada highway of well known and lesser known Canadian Authors and Poets. From Halifax to Tofino, taking regular stops in between, Private Poet will narrate a Westward bound  voyage through Canadian literature.

This program is for those age 18+.

Private Poet is a Professional Reader of Books, for the discerning listener. Born in England he currently resides in North Bay.

DIY Potion Bottle Craft

Join us on Tuesday October 7 from 6-7:30PM to create your own potion bottle to use as decor this Halloween!

This program is for ages 12 and up. Everyone who wishes to participate must register individually.

All supplies are provided. Space and supplies are limited. Registration is required.

Researching Your Family History at the Barbara Moore Memorial Library

Date: Tuesday, October 7

Time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (two sessions)

Place: Joan Duquette Room, North Bay Public Library (lower level)

Topic: Researching Your Family History at the Barbara Moore Memorial Library

Enjoy social interaction with others who share a similar desire to know more about their family history. Each session will start with the examination of the exceptional resources available at the Barbara Moore Memorial Library and then transition into an opportunity to start your family research under the guidance of our experienced researchers.

"What Comes Next?" Planning Ahead for Aging Well with Hello Darlene

Join us on Wednesday October 15 from 6-7:30PM in the Mezzanine Room for "What comes next? Planning ahead for Aging Well" as part of our Coffee + Conversation senior's program series.

Hello Darlene will demystify the process of Eldercare Planning.  Sharing tips on what families need to think about before a crisis hits.  We will review the different retirement relocation options, key documents to have in place & relocation logistics and considerations.  We will also review some tips on Aging in Place considerations. Great opportunity to become familiar with some of the language associated with this type of planning.

Halloween Mini Putt!

Get ready for some spooktacular fun at the North Bay Public Library! From Monday, October 27th – 30th, the Library Auditorium will be transformed into a haunted mini-putt course filled with skeletons, zombies, spiders, pumpkins, and more. Don’t worry—it won’t be too scary!

🧛 When & Time Slots: 

  • Adults & Seniors (14+): 12:30 pm, 1:20 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm
  • Children (ages 5–13): 4:30 pm, 5:20 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm
